Byanca Hutchins is an Associate Attorney at the Law Office of Meagan Nunez. Byanca
developed an early commitment to community advocacy while interning at a nonprofit
organization that provided free tutoring to children in underserved communities. Through this
experience, she saw firsthand how many families were not receiving the educational resources
and services they deserved, inspiring her to pursue a career focused on equity in education and
child advocacy.

She received her Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law, with a
concentration in Children’s Rights. Before Byanca was a licensed attorney, she worked as a Research Assistant at the
Children’s Advocacy Institute, researching state specific laws related to the administration and preservation of benefits for foster care youth. She then worked as a Law Clerk with Disability Rights California’s Youth

Practice Group and the Law Office of Meagan Nunez, where she researched education law issues, drafted due process complaints, and attended IEP meetings and resolution sessions.

Byanca is deeply committed to building trust with the families she serves, taking the time to
understand each student’s unique needs, and guiding parents through their rights and options.
