Meagan Nuñez was born and raised in San Diego, CA. She is a graduate of San Diego High School and UC Santa Cruz. Attending low-income schools with underserved populations taught Meagan about inequality as well as the power of education to make positive changes in people and communities.
That belief in education brought Meagan to Oaxaca, Mexico, where she worked as a teacher of English as a Foreign Language and volunteered with local children in the Centro de Esperanza Infantil. She later worked as a child development counselor at a group home in San Diego. She eventually decided that the best way to make change was to fight for equality as an attorney.
Meagan attended CUNY Law School in Queens, NY, the only accredited public interest law school at the time. She was awarded the Heywood Burns Fellowship in Civil and Human Rights. Meagan opened her law office in 2010 and has practiced special education and civil rights law since.
